The quartet was formed at the initiative of Katherine Shave and Lucy Blunden. Lucy and Katherine have performed together since they were young children.

Both have studied to a professional level; Lucy at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and Katherine, after Cambridge University, went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Experienced in performing within different ensemble sizes, Katherine and Lucy feel that the string quartet has a unique quality of sound within which each instrument blends together beautifully.

The string quartet is equally suited to the private party as it is to large/small corporate events and intimate or grand weddings.

The Amallia String Quartet is an all female group formed from a pool of string players who have attained a high degree of excellence in their field as performing musicians, working with ensembles such as: The LSO, Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, National Theatre Orchestra and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
